(New Normal Specific) What happened to your studio?

(Facility Update Spring 2022 - Temporarily Closed due to PMU basement renovation. Reopening date TBD)

(New Normal Specific) How can I find out whether the meeting of the week is approved/finalized?

You can keep up to date with the status of the meetings by monitoring the announcements or subscribing to our newsletter. Additionally, feel free to join our Slack and Instagram where we can update you as well.

(New Normal Specific) When and where are your meetings?

We have meetings every Tuesday around 6:30 pm in various locations (most likely a room WALC) for in-person meetings. The time can change between 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm as well as the meeting location, depending on semester and room availability. Please refer to announcement for the actual date.

How do I join your club?

Check for where our current meeting is and show up! We are always accepting new members and would love to meet you! :)

Who does your club consist of?

Purdue students, staff, and faculty.

How does a typical meeting work?

We start with a presentation about the topic. Then, we will have a hands-on time where you can practice what you learned. For the post-processing workshops, the whole meeting time will be a hands-on tutorial that you can follow.

Want to talk about how you took your photo at our weekly meetings?

Fill out this form so that we can see if we can feature your photo!

I missed the callout, can I still join?

Of course, just show up to any subsequent meeting.

I missed the meeting, how can I learn about what was talked about?

You can ask any one of our officers to catch you up with the information for that week.

How do I receive the club updates?

Please sign up for our email list! We will send you a weekly email with announcements. Also, we have an announcements page if you want to bookmark it.

I signed up for the email list, but I am not receiving any emails.

Please check your Cisco Quarantine and add our email (photo@purdue.edu) to your safe list.

How do I find my Cisco Quarantine?

Search “Cisco Quarantine” in Outlook. And click the “view your email quarantine” in the email.

I signed up for the club on BoilerLink, but I am not receiving any messages.

Do not sign up on BoilerLink. Join our email list on our contact page.

How do I unsubscribe from the emails?

We hate to see you go, but you can click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of any of our emails.

I unsubscribed from the emails, but after a change of my mind and resubscribing on the website, I am not receiving any emails.

Since you initially unsubscribed, it won’t let you resubscribe unless you do it through this form.

Are there club dues?

Yes, the club dues are $5, but you get a sticker! We used to offer a fee for access to our studio as well, but that is currently unavailable for now. If you are just checking out the club, please do not pay. We accept donations.

Is there a due date for the club dues?

No. We strive to be an inclusive organization rather than an exclusive one.

How do I pay the dues?

Please bring the appropriate amount of cash or write a check and give it to our treasurer. As a Purdue RSO, we cannot accept, PayPal, Venmo, etc.

What are my club dues being used for?

They are used to buy supplies for the club - both for use in the meetings and in our facilities. Also, to keep this website running.

What facilities do you have?

We have a darkroom and studio. Click here for more info. It is currently unavailable for the meantime.

What sort of gear do you have in the studio?

We have a number of different colored backdrops with some new studio lights with hot shoe triggers and receiver (purchased in fall 2019). In addition, we have some tripods, macro extension tubes, some 50mm lenses, a couple of product photography lightboxes, some stools and chairs, and a bunch of props/accessories.

I have a problem with the studio. Who do I contact?

Please send an email to photo@purdue.edu.

How do I get access to the facilities?

After you pay the $20 to our treasurer, then you should receive an automated email with the instructions. This email is separate from the welcome email. This option is currently unavailable for now.

I paid for facilities access, but I did not receive an email regarding how to access it.

As mentioned above, please check your Cisco Quarantine. If you are still having problems, please send us an email.

I have a question or want to learn more about film photography and the club’s darkroom. Who do I contact?

Please reach out directly to our facility manager.

Do you guys rent out gear?

No, the gear we have is for our meetings, trips, and facilities. However, if you have a specific request, we may be able to help. Send us a message or ask in our GroupMe.

Do you host Adobe workshops?

Yes, visit this page for a little history and what to expect. In the past, we have done workshops on Lightroom mobile, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. If you can’t make any of them but still need help, please reach out.

Do you offer free Adobe Creative Cloud Subscriptions?

As of 2020-2021, we no longer offer free Adobe Creative Cloud Subscriptions.

I heard about your Lightroom Presets. Where can I download them?

If you sign up for our email list, we will send you the two Lightroom Preset packs that we created in the fall semester. In addition, all future preset packs will be released through our email list.

How do I install the Lightroom Presets?

Follow our guide.

I am a beginner and do not know how to use my camera.

Don’t worry, we will be happy to help you learn. We welcome people of all skill levels. Join our meetings and you will definitely improve.

Do I need to have a camera to join?

While most members have a camera, it is not required. Some members do smartphone photography too. And some meetings are geared around post-processing; therefore, you won’t need a camera for those meetings. Either book those meetings in a lab with computers or ask you to bring your laptop.

What are your social links?

Slack. Instagram. Flickr

How can I get my photo featured on Instagram?

Post in our Facebook Group or GroupMe. Or post on Instagram and tag us or use the hashtag #purduephotoclub. And if we like it, then we will reach out. Or just fill out this form.

I want to get paid to do photography.

Check out our Facebook page for the latest opportunities.

I am looking for a photographer for my event, special occasion, portrait session, organization, etc.

Please fill out the form here. And we will respond shortly.

I want to go on a trip and I am capable of driving. Drivers don’t have to pay for the trip fee.

Fill out the RM01S form and take the Van training quiz. Once you log in for the van training quiz, scroll down to “Other/Miscellaneous“ and click on “Purdue Passenger Van Training / 2020”. If you completed these for another organization, you do not have to complete it again. If the last time you completed it was over a year ago, then you have to do it again as the certification only is valid for one year. Completing the van training quiz does not necessarily mean you’ll have to drive a van (as you could be a backup van driver).

How can I be a club officer?

Be engaged in our meetings. And stay tuned at the end of the spring semester for officer elections.

I want to help out, but I don’t want to be an officer.

Reach out to an officer and we can find you something of interest whether it is helping maintain our studio, planning activities at our meetings, suggestions on where to go on a trip, etc.

How can I donate money?

You can send a check to our PO Box. Or you can donate on the Purdue Day of Giving (it happens every spring).

What is your PO Box?

Send us an email, and we will send you our address to our PO Box.

I have another question.

You can ask us it here. Or just email photo@purdue.edu.
